The Farm
"One tree cannot make a forest"
Together with undocumented people and other volunteers from the neighborhood, we care for the animals, manage the landscape, build & garden together and divide and process the harvest into a warm lunch and beautiful products. Our harvest - vegetables, herbs, flowers, eggs & meat - is taken home by the community and is being shared locally, including drop-in centers for the homeless.

It starts with a dream..
After years of dreaming and searching for the right place, we settled in the Bovenkerkerpolder in Amstelveen in 2020. Two wishes of the Protestant Diaconie Amsterdam come together on this farm: space for people without papers to develop and providing healthy, sustainable and local food to those who can use it the most . On the farm we always try to prioritize social and ecological values.
Meent: 'Collectively managed piece of land'
Participants take an active role in the joint farm development. Through the activities and the learning path of workshops/excursions they discover their interests and develop agricultural, social and technical skills. The community grows and the property and landscape grow alongside it; the future potential of the Meent is increasingly taking shape. Want to know more about our farm? Click below.
